One Love, One Life

Is this perhaps the greatest rock song of all time as many critics have spoken? Is U2 the greatest rock band in history? I come close but with one caveat… I think the greatest rock song in the world is written in our minds.

Is your life getting better, or do you feel the same as you did 10 years ago? Do you put the blame on others for your lack of position in society or procurement of wealth? When you lie awake at night, what is the dream that fills your last conscious thought before slumber? I think you need to grab onto that thought and never let it go. I think you need to share it with your strong side that we all have or it will leave you for the lack of caring.

Life’s disappointments can be blamed on this occurrence or that, but really it’s about your freewill and your ability to push yourself towards your goals. If you have no hard set goals you will always feel you are going without, even if you can’t put a finger on just what that without is. It’s never too late to drag the past out into the light and understand we don’t have to stay the same. We’re one, but we’re not the same if we decide to become a better person.

A better person in our own mind, not someone else’s interpretation. Start by forgiving yourself for perceived transgressions, let go the demons of self doubt and regret. You can’t be Jesus but you can heal the lepers in your head. Is it too much to ask, more than alot, to find a peaceful spot to take the nothing of ones past and fill it with joy and hope? Start by carrying yourself to a fulfilled life while you can, don’t wait till time catches up with you.

Is it too much to ask to be happy? Should we hurt ourselves by dredging up the worst of our past and all our faults as humans? Love is a temple above all others, a place that dismisses all differences and settles all scores. A higher law to be lived by starting within. No one will hurt us more than ourselves, no one can cut deeper then the enemy within. No life is complete when all you have is hurt.

You have one life, one blood, one chance you got to do what you should. We may not be a brotherhood of man but you can be a believer in you. That’s where it all starts.

Is it getting better
Or do you feel the same
Will it make it easier on you now
You got someone to blame
You say

One love
One life
When it’s one need in the night
One love
We get to share it
Leaves you baby if you don’t care for it

Did I disappoint you
Or leave a bad taste in your mouth
You act like you never had love
And you want me to go without
Well, it’s

Too late
To drag the past out into the light
We’re one, but we’re not the same
We get to carry each other
Carry each other

Have you come here for forgiveness
Have you come to raise the dead
Have you come here to play Jesus
To the lepers in your head

Did I ask too much
More than a lot
You gave me nothing
Now it’s all I got

We’re one but we’re not the same
Well we hurt each other
Then we do it again

You say
Love is a temple
Love a higher law
Love is a temple
Love the higher law
You ask me to enter
But then you make me crawl
And I can’t be holding on
To what you got
When all you got is hurt

One love
One blood
One life
You got to do what you should
One life
With each other

One life
But we’re not the same
We get to carry each other
Carry each other

  1. “I’ve been caged up for oh so long, I don’t know if I’m living or if I’m dying” … “Strength” by The Alarm … used to be “have you done THIS or THAT recently. Now it’s “Have you EVER done that?” You see others try to do good, but their stories always end up having to include their faults from WAY back. We seem to have entered the days of lifetime punishment for old transgressions, no matter how petty!
